WHAT YOU WILL GET OUT OF ATTENDING

THE SOUL OF FACILITATION

This course is about developing your skills as a facilitator. It assumes you have the basics and

have been facilitating groups enough to experience at least a few hits and misses. We won’t be

covering the basic “how-to's” or the various methods an introductory or intermediate class might offer.

With that in mind one of the first questions you might be asking yourself before you sign up is,

“What will I get from taking it?”

The second question, right behind the first, is usually,

“And will that be worth the time and money I invest in taking the workshop?”

There are two ways to answer those questions. First, look at the workshop flyer. Generally, we’ll

cover the topics listed in the flyer, and depending on the needs of the participants we will spend

more time on some of the topics than others.

Second, and by far the most important, think about what is you really want to gain from taking

this kind of course:

What would it look like if you took your facilitation practice to the next level?.........................................................................................................

When are you most effective facilitating a group?...................................

When are you less effective?....................................................................

What gets in the way of being effective?..................................................

If you could have one breakthrough as a facilitator (besides a lucrative,

new contract) what would it be?.............................................................

…………………………………………………………………………..

Think about these questions. There are really three things that determine the results of any endeavor:

 1) Clarity of the goal

 2) Commitment to achieving that goal, and,

 3) Enabling Environment.

Bring the first two and we’ll do our best to create an enabling and supportive environment that

helps you take home the learning you were looking for.
